Position Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer I within our Production Engineering team is responsible for designing customer specified custom switchgear distribution reclosure and overhead switches products to our G&W’s quality standard. This position will specialize in our entire catalog of overhead and underground switchgear products. Essential/Primary Responsibilities:

• Design to order per customer provided specification within a team environment.
• Provide design competency to industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEMA, etc.)
• Design products to internal engineering design standards and best practices within customer lead time and quality expectations
• Coach, maintain and assist technical aptitude among design team members.
• Be a change agent in department and company by identifying and resolving root causes through problem solving activities.
• Provide technical support for internal and external customers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support and provide technical aptitude for company and departmental projects as needed (e.g. Product Development, Aftermarket Support, Application Engineering, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing).

Required Experience:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant Discipline
• Experience in 2D and 3D design (CAD).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and has demonstrated presentation skills to diverse audiences in Spanish and English
• Strong analytical design and quantitative problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience:

• CREO CAD Software experience
• Sheet Metal design experience.
• Leadership and Training
• Change Management experience.

• Experience with Oracle J.D. Edwards Business System
