Position Summary:

Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Designer will design custom solutions to match customer specifications from selection, design and integration of medium voltage switchgear and reclosers.


Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand design requirements of customized medium voltage switchgears.
  • Participate in design review when necessary.
  • Plan and complete defined design work per schedule.
  • Choose correct modular subassemblies and configurations of the product.
  • Design and modify the layout and package of the subassemblies to meet the design requirement.
  • Detail and draft new parts required for the new design.
  • Prepare mechanical drawings with dimensions, tolerance and bill of material.
  • Update schedule and database.
  • Prepare production documentation.
  • Verify and validate other designers work.
  • Support production, Supply Chain, Sales and QA.
  • Process engineering change notices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • 3+ years experience in mechanical engineering design.
  • Good understanding of automatic mechanical equipment.
  • Working experience with 3D solid modeling and drawings (CREO).
  • Good team player and quick learner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate the activities with diverse tasks and demanding schedules.
  • Excellent command of the English Language verbal and written.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions: General Office Environment, PC use
