Position Summary:

Reporting to the Regional Vice President of Sales and Customer Care, the District Sales Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining business within the C&I market for all G&W product lines as a member of the Canadian Sales team. A strong focus for this market is on pad mount, vault and overhead distribution switchgear with distribution automation technologies, however includes all products in the G&W portfolio. The incumbent is responsible for representing G&W to electrical engineering consultants, engineer-procure-construct firms (EPC’s), contractors, distributors, universities, renewable energy developers, OEM’s, and governmental agencies, among others, in order to maintain existing accounts and establish new opportunities for growth. This position will cover the Ontario geographic area.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Establish new relationships within the Ontario C&I markets; Use industry, technical, social networking and other skills in order to identify and build the C&I business portfolio.
  • Determine market segmentation and key target accounts; determine key decision makers and build customer relationships
  • Coordinate sales efforts with Sales organization and marketing
  • Leverage key relationships as needed to identify emerging needs and solutions; communicate this information in a clear and concise format to product development teams for further investigation and integration into G&W new product development
  • Maintain, coordinate and manage an opportunity pipeline for geographic area of responsibility
  • Conduct sales presentations, technical design discussions, drawing reviews, lunch & learn and order negotiations
  • Assist application engineers with quote preparation on both technical and commercial requirements
  • Optimize schedule in order to most efficiently balance time, travel and sales calls
  • Submit monthly territory reports
  • Align specifications to customer needs with G&W products
  • Develop long lasting relationships between G&W and contractors / consultants

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have strong interpersonal and entrepreneurial leadership skills for building linkages to external customers that lead to current and future business, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and customers; able to quickly gain credibility and trust
  • Bachelor’s Degree or CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) in a technical or closely related discipline
  • Proven sales experience (5+) working within the Ontario C&I market
  • Good knowledge of electrical utilities industry
  • Solid communication skills, both written and oral, analytical capabilities, and technically proficient
  • Results-oriented, self-motivated individual with a sense of initiative
  • Ability to independently identify and develop solutions to problems that may arise in the course of work
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or comments from internal/external customers and suppliers
  • Resourceful, diplomatic, customer service oriented
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed organization and prioritization skills; detailed oriented
  • Consistently demonstrates a high degree of business acumen and good judgment
  • Demonstrates accountability; focused on meeting goals and deliverables on time and at the highest quality level possible
  • Is client-centric; proactively anticipates and actions customers’ needs
  • Successfully establishes and maintains long-term relationships with colleagues and customers
  • Must be highly focused and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Office and standard business software (SalesForce)
  • CSA Knowledge is considered an asset
