SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Engineer II, Sustaining, will lead design improvement projects to existing products. These include overhead and underground switching products, as well as specialized cable accessories and power system protection equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Design & Product Evolution
- Lead technical side of the project from the idea to the completion of the validation tests.
- Demonstrates increasing depth of knowledge and application of the concepts, principles, practices, and processes within the field of specialization.
- Design components for Medium Voltage switchgear per specification
- Construct and test prototype components or assemblies as required in the change Management, validation, and approval processes while maintaining our standard of safety.
- Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results and project activity as required.
Manufacturing & Vendor Collaboration
- Interface with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies.
- Provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes.
- Represents the company to customers and can engage with internal and external stakeholders and clients.
Project Management & Leadership
- Develop schedules, coordinate and manage projects of minor to major size with little to no supervision.
- Give direction to lower level technical personnel such Project Engineers I, CAD Designers, CAD Operators and Technicians.
- Consult with Customer representatives to discuss product requirements and specifications when design or manufacturing problems are involved
- Prepare budgetary and resource information regarding projects or parts of projects in area of responsibility.
- Exercises consistent initiative and sound judgment in work methods, technical propositions, and interpreting goals.
- Effectively leads within the work group, cross-functionally, and within the department.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3-8 years’ progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development.
- Related power distribution experience.
- Work on highly technical and involved projects constantly challenged with new problems with little supervision
- Support and contribute to project milestones and deliverables.
- Experience with project management and driving project execution
- Participate in customer-facing activities.
- Experience with leveraging and interpreting relevant industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, etc.)
- Able to innovate and provide creative solutions
- Able to use small hand and power tools.
- Some experience with CREO Parametric or other 3-D CAD systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Experience in writing technical documents (test reports, engineering standards and technical papers)
- High degree of initiative to finish tasks on time.
- Drive to learn new technologies and methodologies

What we offer you:
Typical pay is $85,000 – 97,193 annually.
