G&W Electric’s Nenad Uzelac Honored with Distinguished Member Award from CIGRE

Bolingbrook, Illinois, June 11, 2020 – G&W Electric Co., announced today that Nenad Uzelac, global research and standards manager, has been recognized as a recipient of the Distinguished Member Award from CIGRE. The award recognizes members with more than 10 years of service to CIGRE and who have actively participated in the work and development of the Association within Study Committees and/or National Committees.

“For more than two decades, Nenad has played an integral role in the development of G&W Electric’s switchgear. He has dedicated his knowledge and expertise to make positive contributions to the medium voltage power industry,” said John Mueller, chairman and owner of G&W Electric. “We are thrilled that Nenad continues to dedicate his time and is able to see his hard work pay off by being recognized with such a prestigious award from CIGRE.”

Introduced in 1996, the Distinguished Member title is granted to a number of long-standing
members who have contributed to the Association through participation in the technical work or within the National Committees. Proposals for nominations are put forward by National Committee chairmen every two years and are approved by the president of CIGRE.

In 2018, Uzelac became the chairman for the CIGRE A3 Transmission & Distribution Equipment Study Committee. Additionally, he is the current chairman of IEEE Switchgear Technology and Innovation Subcommittee. Uzelac also received an Attwood Associate Award – which is given to an individual who has made notable contributions to CIGRE over an extended period of time.

Uzelac began his career at G&W Electric in 1999 as a R&D switchgear engineer. From 2006 to 2015, he was the leader of Switchgear R&D Department. Along with his current position as global research and standards manager, Uzelac is also the industry affairs and technology manager for switchgear.
