Quality Team Lead (10:00am to 6:30pm)

General Summary: Provide leadership in QA final inspection group and inspect product for conformance specifications

Core Duties:

  • Leads inspectors on all inspection-related processes. Assigns work and instructs other inspectors on proper operation, quality, procedures, safety, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Checks and arranges for availability of materials, tools and fixtures
  • Performs a variety of direct labor and other functions within the group to maintain flow of work in an efficient manner to ensure on-time completion.
  • Audit work of others and ensures all quality procedures are being followed and that nothing leaves the department unless it meets all requirements.
  • Assists with evaluating the performance of subordinates against their job requirements and performance goals.

  • Performs supervisory tasks including employee discipline and time approvals with support of the QA Manager.
  • Performs incoming or final QA inspections
  • Assists in evaluation of non-conforming components
  • Writes NCR’s for non-confirming product and working with other departments to get them dispositioned
  • Performs internal process audits as required, reporting all findings
  • Position has the authority to “shut down” non-conforming processes after notifying Supervisor
  • Analyzes and report on materials, processes and products
  • Communicates drawing and or BOM (Bill of Materials) discrepancies to Engineering
  • Report violations of ISO standard to the Quality Manager
  • Assists in the analysis of components to help identify potential quality issues
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of inspection tasks as needed
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to supervisor and coordinate activities within a department comprised of diverse tasks and demanding schedules.
  • Must have basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel Experience using an ERP system desirable
  • Ability to utilize mechanical inspection measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Must be able to understand and apply elements of corrective and preventive actions
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to support production and team supervision.

Education/Experience:

  • Associated degree in Quality discipline or equivalent work experience and skill development required
  • 2+ years experience performing technical work in a manufacturing environment
  • ASQ CQT certification preferred
