General Summary: The Project Manager has total responsibility for the management of Microgrid projects, including external vendor management, utility communication management, procurement, and installation schedule management. Responsibility includes maintaining the project timeline, manage change orders from third party vendors, manage customer expectations and inquiries, and assisting work onsite as required. This is done alongside the automation engineers, third party vendors, and the microgrid designer.
Essential Functions:
- Identify competitive products via evaluating features, pricing, and vendors for the microgrid.
- Vetting vendor and partner processing/manufacturing, installation, and testing practices.
- Maintain questionnaire to be used to evaluate potential vendors.
- Submit POs and RFQs to vendors via supply chain.
- Manage the interconnection process alongside the microgrid designer and the automation engineers.
- Monitor delivery and installation of microgrid components onsite.
- Maintain a published schedule of activities for quoting, designing, installing, and commissioning a microgrid.
- Travel as primary liaison to installation contractor, providing support for the installation of all microgrid components. Expected to maintain presence onsite during critical installation and commissioning activities.
- Coordinate parties required for commissioning of the microgrid.
- Gather and supply (not develop) documentation for the design and installation of a microgrid.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- 5-10 years in a sales, technical support, or project management to industrial or utility electro-mechanical products, with at least 3 years in project management.
- BS in Engineering, EE preferred. PMP highly desired.
- Knowledge of Utility and Commercial/Industrial markets and customers strongly preferred.
