Reporting to Product Line Manager, this position is the technical expert for their product line. The role includes product management of sensors with a regional/ local focus (North American and Europe). The role seeks to increase product line revenues and margin dollars by working collaboratively with all departments. The role will build on Product Management skills such as business development, commercial, and strategy development by working within the Sensor Product Line.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
- Support Base Business as necessary through technical, application, and tactical support
- Focus on sensors product line
- Focus on a North American (IEEE) market
- Technical expert for their product line
- Quotation support including large and complex bids and products
- Direct customer interaction through any channel
- Participate and drive content beneficial to G&W Electric in standards committees relevant to their product line
- Tradeshow and sales call support
- As necessary, work cross-functionally to manage supply chain or quality disruptions to the operations team
- Working with sales team and sales enablement, develop forecasts for the product line
- Monitor win/loss data and work with the team to adjust pricing and offerings to maintain competitiveness
- Participate in G&W’s Go to Market Engine process to support the creation of a global product portfolio
- Own the ideation process to create new ideas for their product line
- Determine market research plan to prioritize ideas using information from the sales team, market research, and customers
- Drive a formalized process for evaluating ideas for inclusion into the product portfolio
- Identify and profile competitor’s products and activities
- Constantly monitor market trends and understand their impact on the product line
- Identify opportunities for private-label and acquisitions
- Participate in evaluating businesses identified as potential acquisition targets and/or partners
- Help develop business relationships and participate in due diligence and integration activities
- Participate and drive projects through the NPD process
- Research customer product requirements, competitive offerings, and product gaps to determine market needs
- Create the value proposition, sales channel identification, and identification buyer and user personas
- Identify and develop a plan to close sales or support channel gaps
- Drive the creation of marketing and sales plans to grow sales of new products
- Drive the Sales Enablement to ready sales team for selling new products and enhancements
- Establish pricing guidelines
- Working with Marketing Communications, develop sales tools, training, and materials for NPD projects.
- Use existing tools to monitor and track sales of new product launches
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 2+ years experience in a product management role
- Strong technical and commercial aptitude and experience managing engineered to order products
- Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Demonstrated influential capabilities to both internal and external customers
- Good communication skills both written and oral
- Driven to see their product line grow
- Good problem-solving skills
- Driving a global cross-functional team
- Owns direct customer communications without supervision
- Willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Power Distribution segment of the electrical industry
- Experience working within teams spread globally around the world
