Position Summary:

Reporting to the Global Product Line Manager, this position requires a blend of both strategic and technical skills for managing products and solutions in accordance with the overall portfolio and company strategy. The role includes product management of MV overhead reclosers, sectionalizers, and load break switches. The GPM will be the product and solution owner and will be responsible ensuring profitable growth and market share capture by working collaboratively with all departments. This role will rely heavily on product management skills such as business development, commercial savvy, and a good balance of tactical and strategic know how.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage as primary owner specific products and solutions within the global product portfolio
    • Develop and drive the portfolio strategy for managed offerings
    • Lead idea generation through voice of the customer, analysis of market trends, and identification and profiling of competitor’s products and activities
    • Lead participation in relevant standards, industry associations, and trade show events to provide appropriate guidance and influence for G&W and the industry at large
    • Assist in developing market segment intelligence and GTM plans for new products and solutions, including SAM, TAM, CAGR
    • Monitor industry trends that will impact product requirements and manage strategic plans for managed offerings accordingly
    • Support the review, analysis, and management of relevant impacts on the product portfolio’s P&L and the portfolio’s strategic direction
    • Support evaluation of businesses identified as potential acquisition targets and / or partners
    • Drive set up of new products including establishing pricing, determining inventory levels, and developing sales collateral and training material
  • Participate and drive projects through New Product Development (NPD) and Change Management (CMR) processes
    • Collaborate with NPD teams in the product development process for new products
    • Manage product and solution roadmaps in line with business and portfolio strategic plans and drive internal communications on the same
    • Lead CMR projects to add necessary product enhancements for maintaining profitable growth
    • Create and communicate on value propositions, sales channel identification, and identification of buyer and user personas
    • Support sales and marketing in lead identification and planning to close sales or support channel gaps
    • Collaborate with sales & marketing on the creation of marketing and sales plans to grow sales of new products
    • Lead the Sales Enablement necessary to ready sales teams for selling new products and enhancements
    • Lead the development and management of pricing guidelines for new products
    • Collaborate with marketing Communications team to develop sales tools, training, and materials for existing and new products
    • Support monitoring and tracking of market success for new products launched
  • Support Base Business
    • Engage in product and solutions presentations as needed to for internal and external customers
    • Lead forecast development for product lines by working with sales teams and sales enablement
    • Provide direction to technical product manager(s) and support teams in support sales teams working customer applications and opportunities
    • Collaborate on development of and participate in large bid strategy and approvals
    • Support cross-functional teams in managing engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations issues
    • Lead monitoring win/loss data and support pricing adjustments to maintain competitiveness
    • Lead full product lifecycle management for managed offerings

Required Qualifications:

  • BSEE or BSME
  • 5+ years’ experience in product management or related role within the power industry
  • Strong technical and commercial aptitude and experience managing engineered to order products
  • Able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Demonstrated influential capabilities to both internal and external customers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Collaborative, results-oriented team player
  • Ability to collaborate with and driving a global cross functional team
  • Owns direct customer communications without supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with medium voltage or high voltage products
  • Experience working within teams spread globally around the world
