Power System Analyst

Job Function:

US, IL, Bolingbrook

Reporting to the Product Manager– Specialty Products (Current Limiting Protector [CLiP] and Cable Accessories), this position is the primary support electrical engineer for a very specialized product (CLiP)  used to protect electrical systems from the highest fault currents that normal equipment cannot withstand.  This position will also be responsible for high-level electrical system analysis to determine the proper application of the CLiP. 


Primary/Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Analyze customer electrical systems for placement of CLiP products.  Effectively convey product is use, recommend protection settings, and explain system response. Work with software companies to simulate the operation and protective functions of the products. 
  • Provide technical support to the Application Engineer, as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our internal resources and Sales Team. 
  • High level customer support including presentations, answering technical questions, system analysis, sales support, and troubleshooting.
  • On-site commissioning and field service support for key customers.
  • Involvement in industry organizations – ANSI/IEEE, NEMA, UL, etc.


Required Qualifications: 

  • BSEE or MSEE with 1-5 years of work experience.
  • Understands electrical power system drawings and performs associated 3-phase fault and power calculations.  Ability to create as well as read and interpret drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.  
  • Sub cycle protection and fault response experience.
  • Experience with fault analysis or system simulation software such as ETAP, SKM, PowerWorld, PSSE, etc.
  • Specification and work procedure writing is required. 
  • Travel domestically/internationally 15%.
