Position Description: This position will support G&W’s Current Limiting Protector (CLiP) line of fault-current system protection devices. The CLiP has the ability to provide high continuous current ratings with current limitation and ultra high-speed operation. It provides single-phase and three-phase protection on systems rated 2.8 kV through 38 kV with continuous current up to 5000A.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for completing assigned tasks, assisting other members of the team, and helping to ensure project completion in accordance with the schedule.
  • Creates and evaluate new product concepts
  • Assists with creation of the engineering test plan.
  • Assist with constructing and testing prototype components or assemblies as required in the development and approval process.
  • Support pre-test calculations and assist in test data review.
  • Assist with engineering analysis in design of new products and their subcomponents
  • Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis on the new and existing products
  • Write and/or approve project documentation (test reports, work instructions, customer manuals)
  • Interface with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies.  
  • Provide Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes.
  • Give direction to supporting personnel such as Designers, and Technicians.
  • Follow established procedures for creation and maintenance of CAD databases and libraries.
  • Participate in the review of engineering drawings prior to the release to manufacture.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3D CAD modeling experience (Creo preferred)
  • Experience working on highly technical and involved projects. 
  • Desire to be constantly challenged with new problems.
  • Basic technical knowledge in power engineering and/or electrical engineering. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical standards; understand and apply knowledge from technical white papers.
