Position Summary:

G&W Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the technical development and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems and processes including work sequence, tools and specification, design and implementation. The manufacturing engineer provides for the industrialization of products improving efficiency and productivity.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

• Improve manufacturing safety, quality, delivery lead times, delivery performance, and cost through the elimination of waste from the value stream. Find ways to reduce costs and maximize quality, including make or buy decisions

• Ensure that the concepts of Design for Manufacturability are incorporated in engineered to order product design. Manage the development of manufacturing and testing processes, equipment, handling, packaging, etc. for new product launches.

• Design and implement tooling and fixtures focused on error-proofing to eliminate waste in the manufacturing process and make operations safer. Support repair of tooling. Work with suppliers to address quality and manufacturability issues on parts, tooling, and fixturing.

• Develop storage, inventory, and handling requirements for incoming and in-process materials.

• Manage capital projects for equipment (capex), including cost analysis, supplier interaction, and project implementation.

• Prepare technical specifications for assembly lines and test equipment.

• Prepare visual factory and written documentation for new processes and technology and evaluate the analysis of process capacity and re-layout.

• P-FMEA and NPD processes responsible for Industrialization.

• Develop and test effective automated and manual systems

• Train staff in new and existing processes

• Collaborate with other engineers, contractors and suppliers

• Collaborate with other departments like R&D, quality, SCM giving directions for the optimization of product manufacturability, including packaging and transportation

• Support the creation of BOMs and the integration in the ERPs, including managing variants of standardized products

• Propose upgrade to systems and processes with new technology or materials

• Provides support in organizing and managing manufacturing workflows and resources

• Provides support in integrating disparate systems (e.g. equipment handling, transport)

• Provides support in optimizing facility layouts, production lines, machine operations and network performance

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Manufacturing and/or Mechanical Engineering preferred or other engineering discipline.

• Three to seven years of experience “hands on” low to medium volume assembly process improvements and practical quality improvement implementation.

• 3 – 5 years experience working in manufacturing environment.

• CAD and 3D tools knowledge

• Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations

• Well-versed in relevant software (e.g. MS Office)

• Project management skills

• Problem-solving ability

• Teamwork skills

• Ability to occasionally work late shifts

• Previous experience in ERPs/MES integration in small/medium organizations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Manufacturing Engineering experience strongly preferred.

• Lean Six Sigma Problem Solving experience preferred.

• Good knowledge of English

• Automation and Assembly lines design preferred

Leadership:

Project Leader/Manager: Plans and organizes the resources necessary to complete a project utilizing the necessary principles, techniques, and tools used in planning, control, monitoring, and review of projects.
